By-polls to be held on time: ECP secretary
ISLAMABAD: Election Commission Secretary, Ishtiak Ahmed Khan has said that by-elections would be held in Jhal Magsi and Dera Ismail Khan as per schedule on August 22.
Speaking to media after a meeting regarding arrangements for the upcoming election on Monday, the secretary said the army would be deployed at polling stations while army officers had been given powers of magistrate.
Khan said that the army had also helped the ECP conduct general elections on May 11. He made it clear that elections would not be postponed due to recent floods in parts of the country.
He said that though there were intelligence reports about terror threats, he said that elections would be held in Dera Ismail Khan.
The secretary said that there were flood situation at four polling stations in Jhal Magsi.
