Safari Park operation CCTV debunks claims of innocence
KARACHI: Geo News has received CCTV video of the operation which took place in the Safari Park area of the city on August 15.
During an operation against the land mafia, a DSP and two policemen were killed while several others including two SHOs were injured. Three terrorists from the land mafia were also killed during the encounter.
From day one there were efforts underway to declare the operation fake. When an investigation into this allegation began, DIG Sindh Police, Sultan Khawaja known for his honesty declared the arrested criminals innocent.
In a news conference Khawaja said: “Investigative reports prove that the nine men did not have any involvement in the case.”
The CCTV video received by Geo News debunks these claims of innocence. Zaman Shah an accused in the case who was declared innocent can be seen firing on an ambulance and police. A second criminal, Umeed Ali Chahcar can be seen in the video given directives to continue the attack on police. The criminals displayed the sort of training which is given to militants.
Six of the nine criminals arrested and then set free can be seen in the CCTV video firing at police.
Meanwhile, speaking to Geo News DIG East Karachi, Tahir Naveed said that there had been no final decision on declaring the criminals of the Safari Park operation as innocent. He added that the investigation into the case was ongoing.
