Army ready to tackle all kinds of threats: Gen Sharif
Army chief says detractors, spoilers against peace
INPRAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday said that the armed forces of Pakistan are fully prepared to respond to the entire spectrum of threat.
Addressing a Corps Commander's conference at General Headquarters, Gen Sharif expressed complete satisfaction over noticeable change in the overall security situation in Pakistan.
Referring to the ongoing peace talks between Afghan government and the Taliban, the army chief said it was the only credible way to achieve lasting peace. He said detractors and spoilers were against peace and prosperity of Afghanistan and the entire region.
Participants of the meeting the dwelt at length on internal and external security situation and reviewed progress of operation Zarb-e-Azb and ongoing intelligence-based operations in Pakistan. The forum reviewed the state of readiness and vigil being maintained by troops along the Line of Control (LoC).
