ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday announced that his party’s parliamentarians would not attend proceedings of the National Assembly until the final decision on the motions seeking to de-seat them.
Talking to journalists outside the Parliament House, Qureshi said that a final decision on the de-seating motions moved by the JUI-F and the MQM should be made at the earliest. All parties except the JUI-F and the MQM want PTI to remain in parliament, he said.
“We understand reservations of these (JUI-F and MQM) parties,” he said. He also said that the reservations of the JUI-F and the MQM were political and not constitutional and claimed the de-seating motions would be opposed by main parties in the parliament. He emphasised that stance of the PTI was that they were elected members and played their role in the parliament since the general election.
To a question, Qureshi said that the PTI had accepted the decision of the inquiry commission with open heart and returned to the parliament. He said that the PTI members came to the parliament under a memorandum of understanding signed with the Pakistan Muslim League-N while constituting the commission.
