ISLAMABAD – Minister for Interior Affairs Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday informed the National Assembly that the government had set December 31 last date for renewal of arms licences.
He said no arms licences would be renewed after December 31 and all such expired licences after the last date would stand canceled. He asked the provincial governments to extend full cooperation in this regard as it was the matter of national security.
In the past, he said some non-Pakistanis and other applicants had managed to get licences by submitting false data. So under the renewal drive, the society would be purged of all such elements, he said. The federal government was ready to open centres for renewal of licenses to facilitate the people across Pakistan, he said.
