India asked to provide proof of Pakistan’s involvement in Aug 5 attack
INP

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan on Thursday said that India should provide proof of any Pakistani found involved in terrorist activity on Indian soil, according to a statement issued by Foreign Office spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah.

This followed an Indian claim that Usman Faisal – a suspected militant captured on Wednesday after a deadly attack on a military convoy in the Kashmir region - was a Pakistani. Qazi Khalilullah said that the Indian claim was baseless, adding, "We have repeatedly asked India to refrain from accusations."

He said that Indian citizen Geeta Bharti had been put in touch with Indian High Commissioner TCA Raghavan in an effort to expedite her return. “In the case of Chanda Bibi, Pakistani High Commissioner Abdul Basit is in contact with the Indian Foreign Ministry,” he added.

Khalilullah said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would be going to Belarus at the invitation of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, adding that this would be the first time a Pakistani prime minister visits the Republic of Belarus.

The spokesperson said that Nawaz Sharif would be holding talks with Lukashenko as well as the Belarusian prime minister, and is also scheduled to receive an honorary PhD from the University of Belarus.
