NESPAK delegation given warm welcome by UK based consultants

LAHORE: In order to further augment its operations in the UK under the umbrella of NESPAK (UK) Limited, a NESPAK delegation led by its Managing Director Amjad Khan conducted a business appraisal tour to London.

The NESPAK team, during their hectic schedule, held meetings with a total of 15 major firms having expertise in airport master planning and design, security equipment and metro train projects besides dignitaries including High Commissioner of Pakistan to UK Syed Ibne Abbas and Baroness Nosheena Mobarik.

An introductory session was held in the House of Lords wherein NESPAK’s capabilities in various fields of engineering were highlighted.

The possibility of the UK Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on projects in Pakistan also came under discussion during the visit to the offices of Watteau Holding Group, who had shown a lot of interest to work on projects in Pakistan.

During an interaction session with the NESPAK officials, PILGRIM Group Adviser Sir David Veness, a world-renowned counter-terrorism expert, gave a presentation on security related equipment required by the law enforcing agencies.

Brainstorming sessions were held during a series of meetings with the representatives of top-notch UK companies. An important panel discussion session with reference to the airport expansion projects was held with the executives of the British Aviation Group, which is a consortium of seasoned companies dealing with the airport projects. These include ATKINS, Aviation Ramboll, Airports Design Consult Limited and Aviation Safe.

Discussions were also held with UK based consultants for the possibilities of cooperation on projects in the UK and other countries, which would help create new job opportunities for Pakistani professionals. On this occasion, the foreign consultants admired the services being rendered by NESPAK and expressed their keen desire to work with NESPAK on joint ventures.

Three memorandums of understandings (MoUs) were also signed during this visit with the UK based consultants namely Airport Design Consult Limited, Risc Consultants Limited and Integrated Transport Planning Limited. It was also agreed to submit joint proposals for some projects that are in the pipeline.

A reception was hosted at the Pakistan High Commission, which was attended by Baroness Nosheena Mobarik, Lord Dixby and other dignitaries.

The NESPAK delegates were also welcomed by Baroness Nosheena Mobarik in a befitting manner. The Pakistan high commissioner, deputy high commissioner and other officials of the embassy also assured support to NESPAK in extending its business operations in the UK.
