Govt launches child support prog in 13 districts

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) has launched a Child Support Programme (CSP) in 13 districts to provide a continuum of community-based services for children and their families.

The Bait-ul-Mal has also running 158 National Centres for Rehabilitation of Child Labour in all provinces, said an official of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights. Giving details of projects, the official said that Punjab had launched various projects for the welfare of women and children including establishment of children home, beggars home, remodeling of existing shelter homes.

The Punjab government had also established a toll-free help line, besides providing cash stipends and scholarships through the Education Endowment Fund to the students. The Sindh government had launched projects for the welfare of women including establishment of Sales and Display Resource Centre, Day Care Centres, Women Complaint Cell, Media Cell, establishment of the working women hostel, Women Development Complex and mediation for women in all divisional headquarters.

The official said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department had launched a project for integration of health services delivery with special focus on mothers, new born child health (MNCH), lady health workers (LHW) and the nutrition programme.

The Women Development Department of Pakhtunkhwa had initiated women related projects like establishment of working women hostel, Dastakari Centres, halfway houses, Darul Aman, vocational centres and women empowerment through gender equality.

Similarly, the official said that various projects had been launched for the welfare of children including welfare home for orphan children, schools for hearing impaired children, special education complex, deaf and dumb schools, special education institutions, welfare homes for destitute and orphans.

Balochistan’s Women Development Department had launched various projects like establishment of Women Business Centre, rehabilitation of needy women, distribution of sewing machines and establishment of computer lab, the official said.
