KASUR - Reham Khan - wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan - arrived in Kasur District on Monday to sympathise with the victims of the massive child abuse and extortion scandal in Hussain Khanwala village.

Talking to journalists after visiting houses of the victims, she said, “Responsibility of this shameful incident lies with us all.” She questioned that what the authorities were waiting for after emergence of video clip of suspects’ confession. “Why a judicial commission is needed when the accused have confessed to crime?” she asked.

Criticising the government, Reham Khan said that Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah should not cover up the issue by naming it a land dispute. She said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should take immediate action if he cannot visit Kasur.

Reham said that the government’s apathy in the case was sad and tragic. She said that parliamentary parties now bear heavy responsibility in the matter. She appealed to the Punjab government not to delay development in the case unnecessarily.

She said that there was no need to form a judicial commission over the matter. “There are witnesses in the case,” she added. Reham said that media should continue to track progress in the case and conduct as many programmes on the matter as possible. “This is not a case of one city, but the crime is being committed in different cities, including Lahore,” she added.

Reham called for immediate action against the seven arrested culprits. She said that the PTI was returning to the parliament today where it would condemn the incident to the fullest. Answering a question, she said the judicial commission would delay indictment and the government should treat the matter apolitically.

Reham said she salutes all 284 children who raised voice against the tragedy of the country. “There are many more troubled families who are still quiet,” she added.
