Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Dr Farooq Sattar and other MQM members give in their resignations to National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq in Parliament House.
ISLAMABAD - Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Thursday said the government should show patience on the issue of the resignations of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s parliamentarians and should not take hasty decision on the matter.

Addressing the National Assembly, Khursheed said the government should hold negotiations with the MQM to address their reservations. He said the MQM should not be allowed to leave the parliament as their presence in the House was vital for strengthening of democracy and the country’s system.

The opposition leader urged the MQM lawmakers to withdraw their resignations. Lashing out at the government over absence of the Pakistan Muslim League-N lawmakers from the House, Shah said the government was non-serious and the ministers were not focusing on real issue. He warned that the State Bank amendment bill could not be passed if the Pakistan People’s Party walked out of the assembly.
