Hashmi confirms sit-ins were a conspiracy against Nawaz govt
Ex-MP informs media about “threats from Gen Pasha”
MULTAN – Former lawmaker and senior politician Javed Hashmi has said that the sit-ins were a conspiracy against the elected government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Addressing a press conference at his residence on Saturday, he said that political and military leadership has controlled the conditions despite the crises. “I do not know where conspiracies are made against the government,” he said.
“Jahangir Tareen had said that they could not bring 500,000 people as per the agreement, while Imran Khan said that there would be the government of technocrats, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nasarul Mulk would dissolve assemblies and elections would be held after three months,” he disclosed.
Hashmi said that he had said Nawaz Sharif would not resign as the prime minister. He also said that he had not talked to Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan during the sit-ins and he used to get information from Imran Khan, Jahangir Tareen and Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
He said that the situation causing crisis should not be created as country could not afford crises. He said that he had never contacted anyone. “When I was coming after leaving the sit-in, General (Ahmed Shuja) Pasha had threatened me that he will not spare me, (Minister for Interior Affairs) Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and (Defence Minister) Khawaja Muhammad Asif,” he said.
To a question, the senior politician said that there should be a political solution to the resignations of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. He also said that it was wish of each Pakistani that institutions should work within their limits.
