Sindh to cleanse police of ‘black sheep’ through reforms

KARACHI – Inspector General of Sindh Police Ghulam Haider Jamali said a reform process was underway to cleanse the provincial police of black sheep.
He was speaking at a ceremony to mark the completion of two years of the transmission of Police FM Radio 88.6 here on Sunday. On the occasion, the police chief informed that the process of reforms and cleansing in the police department was continuing.
After scrutiny of record, a list of police personnel with bad reputation has been prepared and departmental action has been initiated against such staff. Jamali said that there would be a zero tolerance as far as those with criminal record and such elements would not be tolerated in the police.
On the occasion, Jamali also shed light on the performance of the Sindh police. He said that coordinated and effective action was being undertaken in accordance with the spirit of the national action plan against terrorists and those involved in other serious crimes.
Under the plan, 8,941 raids and 154 successful search operations were conducted. He said that the geo tagging of 1,684 seminaries has been completed and for the rest the process was continuing speedily. During the current year, 65 police officers and Jawans have laid down their lives in performance of their duty.
Regarding the Police FM Radio, he said that a programme would be broadcast soon for redressal of complaints of the people. The police chief also performed the inauguration of the Multi-Access Gateway at the CPO.
