War not a solution to any problem: Nawaz to Modi
* PM says Islamabad wants friendly ties with New Delhi * Both countries should sort out issues through talks * Improvement in relations is in interest of both countries
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has congratulated his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on the Independence Day of India, saying war is no solution to any problem, and that both Pakistan and India should solve their problems through dialogue.
“Improvement in the relations between Pakistan and India are in the interest of both the countries. War is no solution to any problem. We should find solution[s] of all outstanding issues by sitting across the table,” he said in a letter sent to the Indian PM congratulating him on the Independence Day of India on Saturday.
Nawaz Sharif said, “Pakistan wants good friendly relations with India. Improvement in the ties between Pakistan and India is in the interest of both the countries. Cordial relations between all neighbouring countries, including Pakistan and India, are must for prosperity and development of [the] region. Both the countries should sort out their problems on the table because war is no solution to any problem and on the other hand it is hazardous for both the countries.” The Indian prime minister had felicitated Nawaz Sharif the other day on the Independence Day of Pakistan, which was celebrated on August 14.
