Did not see face of attackers: Godil’s wife

KARACHI: The wife of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Rashid Godil is unable to identify the men who shot and critically wounded her husband.

Mrs Godil told the team investigating the attack that she had not seen the face of the men who had fired at the vehicle.
Four attackers on motorcycles opened fire on the car of the lawmaker on Tuesday, critically wounding him and killing his driver. The MQM leader was shot five times in the jaw, chin and chest, doctors said.

Godil was in his parked car at a traffic light in Karachi’s Bahadurabad neighbourhood when the unidentified men began firing. His wife was also present in the car but remained unhurt in the attack.

Doctors on Thursday said the MQM leader had been taken off the ventilator but the next 18 hours were still critical.

Dr Jahanzaib Mughal said the condition of the lawmaker was relatively better but still critical.

"Abdul Rashid Godil was taken off the ventilator at 10:00AM and sedatives were also discontinued. It has been over three hours since the ventilator was removed and he is giving a very positive response. He is fully awake and alert, and is able to communicate with signs," said Mughal.
