PM arrives in Karachi to chair apex committee meeting
Nawaz to inaugurate Karachi Nuclear Power Plant during his visit

KARACHI – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Karachi on Thursday to chair a meeting of the Sindh Apex Committee on law and order situation in Karachi, private TV channel reported.

According to media reports, the meeting is scheduled to review anti-terror actions carried out by the law enforcers thus far, with a report in this regard to also be presented in the meeting at the Governor’s House. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah is expected to brief the prime minister on the progress and achievements of the targeted operation being carried out by law-enforcement agencies in Karachi.

On the occasion, the prime minster is also expected to approve the future strategy pertaining to the targeted operation against criminals and terrorists. A day earlier on Wednesday, Sindh Rangers Director General Major General Bilal Akbar met the Sindh chief minister and discussed with him the law and order situation of the city and related matters.

During his day-long visit today, Nawaz Sharif will also attend a function at the Karachi Nuclear Power Plant (KANUPP) where he will inaugurate the construction of 1,100-megawatt K-II nuclear power plant near Paradise Point. The prime minister is also scheduled to meet members of the Parsi community before he departs from Karachi.
