PM hopes dawn of peace, prosperity from FATA to Balochistan, Karachi
Nawaz chairs cabinet meeting, says govt to not spare people involve in sectarianism, incite militancy, supports terrorism

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday said that the government was committed to implement the national action plan in its essence to ensure that benefits of its success reach every nook and corner of Pakistan.
Chairing cabinet meeting, he emphasised that those involved in sectarianism would be dealt with iron hand as he also reiterated not to spare those disseminating hatred, incite militancy and encourage terrorism. He said that the terrorists play with the lives of the people and humanity by committing unforgivable crime that cannot be tolerated.
Earlier, the prime minister was given a detailed presentation on the status of the national action plan. The prime minister noted that the operation against criminal elements in Karachi was launched with the consensus of all stakeholders and results of the operation are visible.
Minister for Interior Affairs Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan briefed the cabinet on the progress achieved so far on the action plan. He said that the government was making progress in the key areas of the plan and due to the sacrifices of the armed forces and other law enforcement agencies the situation has improved a lot.
– PM appreciates interior minister –
The minister assured the cabinet members that no criminal element or terrorist would be spared in implementation of the plan. He said that the overall security situation has improved considerably. “We will not allow anyone to derail operation against criminals,” he said. The prime minister appreciated efforts of the interior minister and hoped that this mission would continue.
– No step back on Karachi –
Nawaz said that the citizens of Karachi want peace and the government would not allow political expediency to come in the way of restoring peace and revive traditional tranquility of the Sindh capital. “We cannot even think of taking any step back as far as Karachi operation is concerned and those who have come in the parliament with the people's mandate should place their grievances and raise their issues on the floor,” he said.
The prime minister assured the cabinet that the government would continue its efforts to provide peace and security to the people of Karachi. He directed the Ministry of Interior Affairs to prepare a strategy to de-weaponise the whole society as any democratic government cannot allow armed groups to operate with impunity.
He informed the cabinet that the Zarb-e-Azb military operation was achieving its objectives with success and credit goes to the armed forces and civilian institutions. He added that even the international community has appreciated the successes achieved in the Zarb-e-Azb operation.
– PM lauds services of army, air chiefs –
In this regard, the prime minister lauded efforts and determination of Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif. He also commended efforts of Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sohail Aman for leading the operation from the front. He said that the situation in Balochistan was improving day-by-day and this process would continue till the dawn of peace and prosperity from FATA to Balochistan and Karachi. He declared that the future was going to be better than the past.
The cabinet offered fateha (prayer) for the departed souls of all the victims of the Attock suicide attack and paid tribute to the late Shuja Khanzada for the sacrifice he rendered for the nation. The prime minister acknowledged the contribution of the late Khanzada in golden words as member of the Punjab Assembly as well as home minister for fighting militancy and extremism.
The cabinet considered and approved various agenda items placed before it including memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with foreign countries in the field of aviation, climate change, commerce, defence, economic affairs, education, finance, foreign affairs, science and technology, water and power, Board of Investment, Ports and Shipping and Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage.
