Imran demands resignations of ECP officials, NADRA chief

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday demanded that all four provincial members of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the NADRA chairman resign immediately.

Addressing a press conference after chairing a meeting of the PTI’s Central Advisory Council, he said that following the election tribunal’s verdict on NA-122, the ECP officials and the NADRA chairman have lost the legal, moral and ethical grounds to hold their posts. He termed alleged rigging in the 2013 polls a criminal negligence. To a question, Kaptaan flayed the ECP. He said that the verdict vindicated his stance. He said that the ‘third wicket’ would also be falling soon. “If the government is brave enough, it should open the 4th constituency instead of hiding behind the court,” he added.

The NADRA chairman, through his report, tried to protect the PML-N candidate, said the skipper. “Our party has passed a resolution in today’s meeting... NADRA chairman should tender his resignation,” he added.

The PTI chairman said he has no personal enmity with former National Assembly speaker Ayaz Sadiq. “All I want is to rectify the errors in the system,” he reiterated.

To another question, he said that a further course of action against the ECP members would be finalised after consultation with the PTI counsel on Monday.
