Election Commission's reply is a joke: PTI chairman

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan responded to the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) rejoinder to his letter on Tuesday evening and questioned that if a constitutional body breaks the law then can no one ask them.

Terming the ECP’s reply a joke for the nation, he went on to say that the four provincial election commissioners take millions as salaries and were involved in rigging, adding that the current Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Pakistan has nothing to do with it.

“The Judicial Commission (JC) and even the tribunal report points to the ECP's role in rigging.”

Khan said that the PTI will take all other parties on board to take further steps against the ECP.

He further said that he does not want to be forced to take to the streets.
“I do not want to take the route of another sit-in, I will try my best for legal action.”

The PTI chairman went on to say that if the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) does not take action against the ECP, it would clearly indicate that the PML-N and ECP played the match together.

“We are looking at options to go to supreme judicial council.”

Khan added that, “People ask me why I am stuck on one point of rigging. I will point them to the poor farmers’ condition in Pakistan today. I want to tell people that what a poor farmer faces in Pakistan is because he is not empowered.”

He further said that, “I want to tell Pakistanis that I have many other things to do, I am not fond of this but I have to bring back the sanctity of a vote.”

The PTI chairman went on to say in his letter he demanded that no matter you call it lapses or rigging, somebody has to be held accountable, adding that “the ECP said how dare we ask them questions.”

Daniyal Aziz says PTI is confused with what move to make now

PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz countered Imran Khan’s press conference and asserted that Khan’s claims of organised fraud and rigging in elections has been proven wrong.

He further said PTI is now confused with what move to make now.

Aziz added that it is time for the PTI chairman to stop insulting the country’s institutions and step forward to help the country.
