Indian spy arrested from Lahore

LAHORE – Intelligence agencies have arrested an alleged Indian spy from Lahore, local media reported on Tuesday.

According to media reports, Ilyas alias Pervaiz was arrested from the provincial capital. The reports further added that the man belonged to India’s primary intelligence agency - Research and Analysis Wing – and was affiliated with the Punjab police.

Officials have taken the alleged spy into custody and more investigation into the incident is underway. Pakistan – on many occasions – has said that India is involved in carrying out anti-state against it. Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif had also taken notice of India’s involvement in the country.

The development comes after the cancellation of national security adviser-level talks between the two countries. Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz had said that if given the opportunity, he would present three dossiers of India’s involvement in creating disturbance in Pakistan to his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval.
