Army chief, US envoy discuss Afghan situation
German diplomat calls on Gen SharifRAWALPINDI – US National Security Council Director for South Asian Affairs Dr Peter Lavoy called on Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif here at General Headquarters on Monday.
The visiting dignitary was accompanied by US Ambassador Richard Olson and US Ambassador to Afghanistan Michael Mickinley. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest – including peace process in Afghanistan – were discussed.
On a separate occasion, German Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier met General Sharif at the General Headquarters. The visiting dignitary discussed regional security situation with the army chief.
