PTI to move NAB against Shahbaz soon: Imran
CHAKWAL: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Tuesday slammed the Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Qamar Zaman Chaudhry for acquitting Asif Ali Zardari in the last reference.
Speaking to a big crowd here, Imran said Zardari’s acquittal proved that Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) were not against each other. He warned the NAB chairman that the PTI would soon file a case with the accountability body against Shahbaz Sharif. Imran Khan said he would take Shahbaz Sharif to NAB for being involved in corrupt practices in Multan infrastructure projects.
Addressing a rally in Chakwal, held in connection with the launch of PTI’s 2017 membership drive, Imran said NAB should get ready to sentence Shahbaz as it would not be able to get away with pardoning the Nawaz clan this time around.
Lashing out at NAB and its Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, the PTI chairman said the nation did not trust the accountability body. The entire Pakistani nation would not forgive the NAB chairman for giving a clean chit to Asif Ali Zardari, he said alleging that corruption had increased instead of decreasing because of institutions like NAB.
Imran Khan said the NA-120 by-polls in Lahore would prove the nation stands with the Supreme Court’s decision and not the biggest dacoit. “The nation will have to choose between thieves and the Supreme Court,” added the PTI leader.
“I was imprisoned for eight days and didn’t come across a single powerful person... I just met the common man in our jails,” Imran Khan said adding that only the common man, and not the corrupt politicians in the upper echelons, was held accountable.
Showing the PTI’s membership card, Imran told the audience that the card would let the party know of its members’ details including their residence and constituency. He said through the card, the party would also be able to take their members’ opinions on nominating party members for elections in their respective constituencies.
Addressing a rally in Sukkur earlier, the PTI chairman targeted former president Asif Ali Zardari and vowed to shift his focus to Sindh. He alleged that Zardari had stolen the province’s wealth and urged his followers not to vote for anyone who had assets abroad.
Imran said the public pays salute to the top court of Pakistan for ousting the alleged corrupt prime minister Nawaz Sharif. He contested that Hassan Nawaz, son of former premier, lived in a house worth Rs6 billion in London and that Pakistan was pushed into huge debts by ‘dacoits’.
