NATO attack on Pakistani troops not deliberate: US
ABOARD A US MILITARY AIRCRAFT: The top US military officer on Wednesday rejected accusations by Pakistan Army that NATO’s cross-border air attack that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers was a deliberate act of aggression. “I can say, categorically, it was not a deliberate attack,” General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told Reuters in an interview as he flew back to Washington after a trip to London. “What in the world would we gain by attacking a Pakistan border post?” The Pentagon also insisted that the strike was in no way a deliberate US attack on Pakistan. “In no way, shape or form can this be construed as an intentional attack on Pakistan by the United States,” US Defence Department spokesman George Little told reporters. agencies
