Sindh govt making efforts to generate power: CM

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said the provincial government was making efforts to generate power through solar and wind energy projects.
Shah said this during a meeting with Balochistan CM Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani at the CM House here on Thursday.
Both the leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, socio-economic and political situation of the country. They also discussed some issues of inter-provincial coordination and expressed their reiteration that prompt attention would be paid to resolve problems faced by people.
Shah apprised Raisani of progress on Thar Coal and Energy project, saying that first step of power generation would be started by the end of December 2013. He said the Sindh government in joint venture with Engro would soon start gasification after which the power generation would commence. Shah said there are also many other coal deposits at Sondha, Badin and Jherik, and Jamshoro district. A six-member delegation also accompanied Raisani.
