Parliament’s inaction forced to approach SC

* PML-N president says he did not call anyone a traitor in SC

* Says he knocked the door of apex court to expose those involved in conspiring against country

LAHORE: PML-N president Nawaz Sharif said on Friday that parliament’s inaction forced him to approach the SC over the memogate scandal.

Speaking during a news conference, Sharif said that he did not raise a finger at anyone in the Supreme Court, nor did he call anyone a traitor.

“If parliament was performing its duties, then I would not have needed to approach the Supreme Court,” Sharif said.

The PML-N president further said that the present government was continuing the policies of the Musharraf era.

Sharif added that no party could be revolutionary if it was associated with the establishment.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Friday said that no one would be allowed to set up ‘East India Company’ in Pakistan, adding that Pakistan was a sovereign country and that they would counter everyone who conspired against the solidarity of the country.

Nawaz Sharif said that to unveil conspiracies being hatched against Pakistan, he, being a citizen of the country, knocked on the door of the apex court in order to reveal all those involved in conspiring against the country.

Speaking to the media in Haripur after offering condolences over the demise of ex-chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Pir Sabir Shah to his mother, Sharif said that the Musharraf government had signed a number of agreements after 9/11 and that the results of the agreements could be seen today. The PML-N chief said his party was willing to help the government and the armed forces get out of these agreements.

Speaking on the memogate petition hearing, Sharif said that he had not pointed fingers at anyone, or said who was responsible or to be blamed. He said that parliament was a mere joke because no important issue was raised during its sessions.

He moved the court and informed them that such an incident had taken place and that it was a conspiracy against Pakistan. Sharif said that he had requested the court to conduct an inquiry to ascertain who was involved in the scandal.

To a question, he said, “No debate was opened on the Mohmand attack by the NATO forces or on the memo scam in the Parliament House,” adding that memo scam was handed over to a minor committee of the parliament.

Nawaz said that corruption was at its peak in each and every department of the country and that they were sucking the blood of the poor masses, adding that the Supreme Court has recovered millions of rupees even from serving lawmakers. He said that the incumbent government had not utilise the chances it found because the government was not focused on the solution of the problems, which were hanging like a sword over the masses.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership had also earlier lashed out at Sharif and had questioned the judiciary’s authority after the Supreme Court asked a former senior government investigator, Tariq Khosa, to lead the probe into memogate.

The PML-N chief said that the press conference by the PPP leaders was regretful and was a pack of lies.

Replying to a query that Imran Khan was enjoying the support of the establishment, Nawaz said that parties which were doing politics with the backing of the establishment could never become revolutionary. agencies.
