Imran declares his assets, urges others to follow

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday declared his assets and asked other politicians to make public the details of their assets too.
He made the announcement in a press conference at the conclusion of a core committee meeting of former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, former Supreme Court judge Wajihuddin Ahmad and other party leaders.
Khan also announced that Shah Mehmood Qureshi would be the vice chairman of his party. He said that the core committee had agreed upon a mechanism for admitting new members in the party, adding that only those people would be accepted in the party whose ideas matched its ideology, he said. Imran said that the leaders of all political parties must declare their assets because it was in the national interest. Replying to a question, he said that he did not have a personal vendetta against the leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, adding that Nawaz always did politics on personal matters.
He claimed that he and the board of directors of Shaukat Khanum never received a salary from the hospital, adding that he had donated Rs 35 million to the hospital till the year 2000. He promised to leave politics if the allegation of his obtaining money from the ISI was proved.
Imran said that the media should prod other politicians to reveal their assets.
