Nisar calls upon Imran to declare actual assets

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan called upon PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday to make public all his actual assets and rejected the declaration made by him.

Following the press conference of Imran Khan, in which he declared his assets, Nisar Ali wasted no time in holding a hurried press conference at the Punjab House where he blamed the PTI chief for not declaring all the assets he actually possessed in his news conference. He asked Imran Khan to present his tax returns of the past 20 years.

He called the declaration of assets by all politicians a positive trend and said that it should not only be restricted to politicians and that generals, judges and bureaucrats should also be made accountable in this regard.

He suggested that Supreme Court should investigate the assets of all politicians to make matters clearer.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Nisar expressed serious reservations over the announcement of President Asif Ali Zardari to address a joint session of parliament convened to discuss the NATO strike. He feared that this was a new drama on part of the government to divert the attention of the nation from the memogate scandal.

He urged President Zardari to clear his position with regard to the memo fiasco, rather than making a speech to gain political mileage.
