“Pakistan has always been asked to do more, but it is time for the US to take action against the person who is violating its law by misguiding the international community,” Rehman Malik said while talking to media after a meeting held at the Interior Ministry regarding the law and order situation during Muharram.
Malik said that all information related to Mansoor Ijaz had been collected and that Interpol would be approached for further investigation.
He claimed that Mansoor Ijaz had been continuously varying his stance on the issue from the very beginning.

To a question, he said that the government would honour and implement the decision of the Supreme Court on Husain Haqqani.
He claimed that Haqqani had no intention of leaving Pakistan and that if he had wanted to leave the country, he would not have come back.
The interior minister said that Pakistan’s decision to not participate in the Bonn Conference was in accordance with the aspirations of the people.
“We will not allow any one to violate the sovereignty of the country at any cost. We feel proud of our nation which knows how to defend frontiers of the country,” he said.
To a question, he said that all chief secretaries, the inspector general and the interior secretary were closely monitoring the law and order situation.
With regard to security during Muharram, Malik said that that the government had provided more security officials and helicopters to the provinces on their request.

The interior minister claimed that there were some indications of terrorist activity in some areas of Karachi and that the government had ensured strict security measures there.
Malik said that there were reports that the elements which had attacked Chaudhry Aslam’s home would carry out terrorist activities during Muharram.
He appreciated the role of the ulema and religious scholars for following the code of conduct adopted for Muharram.
