Supreme Court reserves RPP verdict


ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) Wednesday reserved the verdict into the rental power plants suo moto case after the hearing completed Wednesday, Geo News reported.

The two-member bench under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry heard the case.

During the hearing, Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry in his remarks said that it was Nepra’s responsibility to fix the tariff of rental power but its hands were tied.

The lawyer of ministry of water and power, Khuwaja Tariq Raheem gave the closing arguments and said that rental agreements were done following Nepra rules and regulations and they contain signature of the regulator. He said that Nepra has the right to declare the tariff null and void but in the Cabinet meeting, Nepra did not object to the tariff.
