SC seeks details of Sharifs’ exile agreement from NAB
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday sought from National Accountability Bureau (NAB) the details of agreement on which basis Sharif’s family went to Saudi Arabia. The court also directed the NAB to submit the NAB references. Newly appointed NAB Prosecutor General KK Agha, while appearing before a two-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, argued that the judgment of Lahore High Court (LHC) on writ petition by Nawaz Sharif should be dismissed. The NAB has filed an appeal under Article 185(3) of the Constitution against the impugned judgment of the LHC Division Bench. The LHC on November 04 ordered the release of Sharif family’s properties surrendered by them to NAB in lieu of fine imposed by the Accountability Court, Attock Fort and Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), Karachi. Mian Muhammad Sharif, Mian Nawaz Sharif, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Mian Abbas Sharif, Hussain Nawaz, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, Mrs Shamim Akhtar, Mrs Sabiha Abbas, Mrs Maryam Safdar and former federal minister Ishaq Dar were the accused in this reference. The NAB prosecutor has pleaded that the impugned judgment of the LHC is against law and facts of the case and a grave miscarriage of justice has been done while granting relief to the respondent who was not entitled to it. hasnaat malik
