Imran Khan claims rulers raising hue and cry to blackmail SC
* Says people do not bring about change, only leaders do
* Rules out possibility of fair and free elections under Asif Ali Zardari
MULTAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan accused the government on Thursday of blackmailing the Supreme Court on the memogate scandal.
The PTI chairman said this while talking to the media at the residence of Makhdoom Murid Hussain Qureshi, bother of Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi on the occasion of his joining PTI. Imran said that the rulers also staged a drama when the Supreme Court took up the NRO issue.
Responding to a question, Imran Khan said that the PTI would field its candidates in every constituency as soon as the schedule of the election was announced. To another question, he said that a leader brought about change and that the people do not bring change, adding that a leader has an ideology and that the people should rest assured that “we will bring change”.
To another question, Imran said that the government had destroyed the farming community, adding that farmers were the backbone of the country and that they were in distress.
The PTI chairman claimed that the rulers had hatched a conspiracy against themselves due to their massive corruption and incompetence, adding that if the rulers had delivered on their pledges, there would be no conspiracy. He remarked that corrupt rulers would have quit the corridors of power far earlier if there had been a genuine opposition in the country.
Imran Khan said that the PML-N was chanting slogans of “Go, Zardari, Go,” but it was not quitting the assemblies. To another question he said, “We should come out of the war on terror rather than suspend the NATO supply. This was a US war and due to this war, devastation has been wreaked in Pakistan. The situation will improve only if we come out of this war. He said, “I ask the president and prime minister what they have done and what change they have brought during the last four years.” He ruled out the possibility of the holding of fair and transparent elections under Asif Ali Zardari. The former cricketer claimed that rigging had taken place in all the elections which had been held under Zardari so far and that the Lahore High Court had given its verdict in this respect.
He stated that investigations should be made into the medical condition of Asif Ali Zardari to see if his health allowed him to continue as the president of the country, adding that those who wanted to bring about revolution did not want to become a caretaker prime minister. Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that change had come, adding that if Gilani gave up using state machinery and official vehicles, he would come to know what politics was. online
