CJ in Karachi to review security situation


KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry has arrived in Karachi to chair a high level meeting that will review the steps taken to improve the security situation of the city, Geo News reported Saturday.

Supreme Court (SC) took suo moto of target killings in Karachi and a five-member bench gave verdict after hearing the case in the city after two weeks.

According to the verdict, the court had ordered the chief justice of Sindh High Court (SHC) to arrange monthly meetings with the police, Rangers and concerned government officials to review the steps taken to improve security situation in the city.

Sources told that Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry would review the steps taken on the orders of SHC chief justice in today’s meeting.

The meeting would be attended by SHC chief justice, DG Rangers, IG Sindh, home secretary and other key offcials.
