Javed Hashmi is an ‘egoist’: PML-N
* Party leaders allege Hashmi quitting PML-N was work of the establishment
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders reacted angrily on Saturday following the decision of senior leader Javed Hashmi to join Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Some party leaders alleged that Hashmi’s decision was the work of the establishment. Reacting strongly to Javed Hashmi’s decision to join the PTI, PML-N leader Siddiq ul Farooq said that Hashmi was a staunch egoist.
“If he had reservations against Chaudhry Nisar he should have voiced his concern openly,” Farooq added. Farooq said that he thought it would be impossible for Hashmi to get along with others in the PTI. PML-N leader Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said that Hashmi was a revered leader but he had committed a grave mistake by taking this step. “It is beyond our comprehension as to why he took such a big step,” Jhagra remarked. He added that Hashmi should review his decision.
Abid Sher Ali alleged that former president Pervez Musharraf and other forces had tried to break up the PML-N in similar fashion in 2002, and added that those forces were once again trying to break up political parties in the country. PML-N Spokesman Senator Parvez Rashid said that he remained part of a long struggle launched by the party. Rashid said that the establishment had hijacked Hashmi and dispatched him to Karachi ahead of his meeting with PML-N leadership. “We regret that he has joined those people who subjected him to baton charge, while PML-N stood with him at that critical juncture,” he remarked. online
