Saudi chartered plane makes emergency landing in Karachi
KARACHI: A Saudi chartered plane having a nosewheel problem made an emergency landing at Karachi airport on Sunday. Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesman Pervez George said that the MD-83 plane, carrying 72 passengers, was heading from Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, to Quetta. It was diverted to Karachi after one of its nose wheels jammed. He said that after two tries the plane landed safely at Karachi airport. Pervez further stated that CAA had made all the necessary arrangements for the landing of the plane and the airport manager supervised the operation. Meanwhile, four commercial airliners landed at Nawabshah airport as Karachi airport was closed for air traffic. Karachi-Multan PIA flight PK-737 landed at Nawabshah. An Airblue flight that commenced from Lahore for Karachi was also instructed to land at Nawabshah. A Saudi Arabia flight coming to Karachi also landed at Nawabshah while a commercial flight coming from a European country also landed at Nawabshah airport. Later, airliners took off when Karachi airport was declared functional. agencies
