PPP knows how to protect nukes: PM Gilani


MULTAN: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto made the atom bomb while the missile technology was introduced during Mohtarman Benazir Bhutto's rule, thus, PPP knew how to safeguard the nuclear assets, Geo News reported.

Addressing a function after inaugurating development projects in Qadirpur Ran, the Prime Minister said, "It was credit of Pakistan Peoples Party and its leadership to give a constitution to the country that ensured the unity, integrity and solidarity after the dismemberment in 1971".

He said the constitution given by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto ensured unity among the people of Pakistan following the fall of Dhaka.

Referring to the criticism of the people on the PPP, he said, “The party which made the constitution, release and restored judges, gave independence to media can not be a threat to Pakistan or any other institution.”

He said the people should be afraid from ‘fasli batairey” in the politics and should not be afraid from those who made constitution and gave the country a nuclear power.

The Prime Minister said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto can be murdered but his vision and thoughts will remain alive for ever and now these thoughts are with the people.

Referring to the development projects being completed by the present government, he said, these projects are the right of the people and it will generate jobs and improve economic conditions in these areas.

He said after the completion of these development projects, there will be prosperity in the region. He also announced that the college will be started immediately in the area.

The Prime Minister said when he announced the projects, he did not knew about bye-elections in the area and it were only to fulfill the promises made with the people.

He said he even gave Rs 1.16 billion projects to former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi for the development in the area but no one knew where those funds went.

The Prime Minister said he still remembered the struggle and the support from the people from this area in the past and he had long understanding with this constituency.

The Prime Minister said every Union Council will have an IT center being set up by the Ministry of Information and Technology to train the youth.

He said if there could be revolution by changing the party, he could do so when he was in jail as he was offered to leave Benazir Bhutto and he will be made prime minister but he refused to accept such offers and remained committed to the PPP and its leadership as changing the party could not bring any revolution.

Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik speaking on the occasion said committed politicians like Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani remained unchanged.

The Minister also announced to open an office of NADRA at Qadirpur Waan.
He said PPP being an architecture of nuclear programme of the country would ensure its safety at all cost.

The Prime Minister even welcomed those who were responsible for sending him behind the bar.

Syed Musa Gilani, son of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani also addressed the meeting. (APP)
