Musharraf challenges court for treason trial
* Counsel says Justice Faisal Arab was one of the judges suspended in 2007
ISLAMABAD: The special court established to hear the treason case against Pervez Musharraf has been challenged in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Advocate Riaz Sahi, the counsel of Musharraf, filed a petition in the IHC on Monday. The petition states that Justice Faisal Arab was one of the judges who were suspended in 2007, therefore, it would not be appropriate to make him the head of the special court since he would be biased. The petitioner pleaded the court to declare the special court null and void. The court is to hear the treason case against Musharraf under Article 6 of the constitution. online
