COAS calls on political top brassISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif Tuesday called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House. This was the first call-on of the army chief after he assumed office. Security-related matters and issues of national importance came under discussion during the meeting. Minister for Defence, and Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif also called on the prime minister at the PM’s House, said a press release issued by the PM House. COAS General Raheel Sharif also called on President Mamnoon Hussain at the Presidency on Tuesday. The president congratulated General Raheel on his appointment as chief of army staff and wished him well in the discharge of his new responsibilities as army chief. The current security situation and professional matters pertaining to Pakistan Army were also discussed during the meeting. Separately, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Rashad Mehmood also called on President Mamnoon at the Presidency on Tuesday. The president congratulated General Rashad Mahmood on his appointment as chairman joint chiefs of staff committee and wished him well in the discharge of his new responsibilities. agencies
