Independents take the lead in Balochistan LB elections

QUETTA: The independent candidates in Balochistan local bodies elections held yesterday have clinched the first position by winning as many as 523 seats according to the unofficial and unconfirmed results of 1196 seats out of 1680 obtained by Geo News thus far.

Sources said that a total of 1680 seats of district councils, Metropolitan Corporation, municipal corporations and municipal committees in rural and urban Balochistan were under contest, while the unofficial and unconfirmed results of 1196 seats obtained by Geo News thus far shows that the first position has been clichéd not by any political party but by the independent candidates.

Balochistan Chief Minister, Dr. Abdul Malik’s National Party won the second position, whose 153 candidates emerged victorious, while Muslim League-N’s winning candidates tallied at 153, Pushtunkhawa Milli Awami Party 130. Jamiat Ulema-e-Isalm (JUI-F) relegated to the fifth position winning 113 seats besides 148 seats went to the regional parties.
