KP planning to hold LG polls in March

NOWSHERA: Khyber Pakthunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Saturday the PTI-led coalition government was planning to hold local government (LG) elections on a party basis in March next year.

Elections for the proposed village councils would be held on a non-party basis whereas LG elections at tehsil and district levels would be held on party basis, he said.

Talking to reporters, the chief minister said the KP government would ensure that elections are held in a free and fair manner.

“We are laying foundation for a strong local government system in the province,” he said. app
