Loan scheme for youth to yield positive results: CM

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said the Pakistan Muslim League-N government was pursuing an agenda of selfless public service and is working round-the-clock for steering the country and the nation out of crises.

He expressed these views while talking to the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Barjees Tahir, Federal Minister for Industry and Production Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi, members of National and Provincial Assembly of various districts who called on him here today. Sardar Yaqub Nasir, Ghulam Muhammad Lali MNA, Abdul Manan MNA, Provincial Minister Iqbal Channar, Imtiaz Lali MPA and Kanji Ram MPA were also present.

He said the Punjab government of the PML-N set records of public service during its previous five years tenure.

He said millions of poor people were benefiting from the mega welfare projects like Aashiyana housing scheme, metro bus project, Punjab Educational Endowment Fund, mobile health units, Punjab Rozgar scheme and Daanish schools.

The chief minister said the development journey started by the Punjab government during its last tenure will continue with new spirit and determination. He reiterated that Punjab would be made an exemplary province of Pakistan with regard to development. He asked assembly members to keep close liaison with people, make public service their motto.

Shahbaz said the PML-N government, ministers, members of National and Provincial assemblies and people had took an active part in helping their Baloch brethren affected due to earthquake. He said under the Winter Package for saving the earthquake affectees from severe cold, 30000 quilts and shawls worth Rs 100 million have been sent to Balochistan.

The chief minister said the PML-N leadership was fully aware of the problems being faced by the country and was making sincere efforts for bringing the motherland out of crises.

He said the government was taking sincere steps for making the country a heaven of peace. The chief minister said steps were also being taken on emergent basis for coping with the energy crisis.

Shahbaz said the Punjab government was pursuing a number of development and welfare programmes in the province. He expressed the hope that the Youth Business Loan Programme started by federal government would yield very positive results.

He said the Punjab government was also setting up Punjab Rozgar Bank for providing loans to the youth on soft terms.

He said promotion of technical education was of great importance for alleviating poverty and unemployment.

He said training of various skills was being imparted to jobless youth under Punjab Skills Development Programme and its scope would be expanded to the entire province.

The chief minister said a comprehensive programme had been evolved for providing essential items to people at fixed rates in the province.

He said due to timely and effective steps of the government, prices of eatable items had stabilized and provision of daily use items would be ensured to people at fixed rates at every cost.

He asked Assembly members to utilise all their energies for solving the problems of the people. Federal Ministers Barjees Tahir, Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi and assembly members, talking on the occasion, said people of the province were benefiting from the welfare programmes of the government. They said the chief minister was making sincere efforts for the development of the province. Due to timely and suitable steps, the prices of essential items have reduced considerably, they added. app
