LB polls in Punjab on January 30, announces ECP
ISLAMABAD: Local Bodies election in Punjab would be held on January 30, according to the schedule issued by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) here Monday.
As per schedule, the candidates could receive nomination papers from January 20 to 27. The process of scrutiny of the candidates would take place from December 30 to January 4.
The final list of the candidates would be issued on January 13, the ECP schedule said.
LB polls in Sindh
The commission has categorically stated that LB polls in Sindh would be held on January 18. The schedule of Sindh LB elections would be announced on December 13, it said.
The commission further stated that if the Sindh government wanted delay in elections, it should go to the Supreme Court.
Earlier, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon had said that the provincial cabinet has decided to hold LB polls in Marchi. He said that the government would officially dispatch a letter to the ECP on Tuesday in this regard.
