Probe against 15 ex-ministers in final phase: NAB
Staff Report
QUETTA: NAB Balochistan Director General (DG) Syed Khalid Iqbal has said that the investigation against 15 former ministers for alleged corruption is in its final phase and references would be filed against them in the accountability court after collection of evidences.
Talking to media on Monday following a seminar held under the aegis of NAB for the eradication of corruption, Iqbal said that NAB would not come under pressure from any quarter. “We are totally independent in doing our work.” When asked about the names of the 15 former ministers, he said nothing could be disclosed in this regard yet. He further said that Balochistan is a tribal society and therefore many people, despite having evidences against corruption, avoid coming to fore, which creates hindrances for NAB regarding presentation of evidences in the courts. Iqbal said that bureaucrats and politicians were hand in hand when it comes to corruption, and if they stop doing so, the backwardness of the province could be ended.
