Khurshid Shah elected PAC chief

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah was elected as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) unopposed, on Wednesday. In the first meeting of the PAC, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Mahmeed Bashir Virk proposed Syed Khurshid Shah as the next chairman of PAC. All members of the committee unanimously endorsed his name for the position. Talking to newsmen after his election as the PAC chairman, Syed Khurshid Shah said that the body would be run in an impartial way and announced transparency in the financial matters. He assured accountability of bureaucracy. Shah called upon the members to work jointly for ending corruption from the country. Meanwhile, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq congratulated Shah on his unanimous election. The speaker said that his election testifies to the great trust and confidence that the members of the Public Accounts Committee have reposed in him.
