ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Friday that Pakistan’s economic situation was improving, adding that in the next four years the government wanted to take the GDP rate to 7 per cent.
While meeting parliamentarians from Multan and Sahiwal Divisions, Prime Minister Sharif said in the past years the economy had been ignored which led to deterioration.
The prime minister added that duty free access to 27 European countries would be beneficial for not only the textile industry but several others. According to Prime Minister Sharif, Pakistan being granted GSP Plus status was reflective of the government’s commitment towards trade not aid.
The prime minister further said work was underway on long-term projects to deal with the energy crisis in the country. Commenting on the recently launched Youth Business Loan Program, the prime minister said this would benefit three million people in its first phase.
