ANP challenges KP LG Act 2013 in court

PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) Friday challenged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Act 2013 in the court, said a press release. Advocate Khushdil Khan has filed the writ petition in the court on behalf of parliamentary leader of ANP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Sardar Hussain Babak. He has prayed the court to declare union council instead of village council as the basic unit of the local government system. Similarly, he has asked that elections be held on party basis for every tier of the local government. The ANP has also challenged the unlimited powers proposed for the chief minister in the office of district nazim and local bodies’ institutions in the proposed act. app
