Champions of change haven’t changed a bit

LAHORE: We continue to hear the slogans of ‘New Pakistan’ and promises of change in the country. However, some embarrassing incidents taking place time and again have exposed such hollow claims and pseudo-service to humanity.

In a recently exposed photograph, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi was caught in the act, receiving “sacred money” from a disciple at a gathering.

After this shocking photo of Shah Mehmood Qureshi taking money was uploaded to Twitter, PPP Patron-in-Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari retweeted the picture and expressed his disgust over the occurrence.

This photo perfectly captures how so-called ‘pious’ leaders exploit their followers, and how they gladly accept such gratifications. This is the new Pakistan, but with the same old ways. Qureshi is the sajjada nasheen and custodian of the mausoleum of Shah Rukn-e-Alam and of the shrine of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya.
