PML-N tells Imran Khan to put his own house in order first* Information minister says PTI has failed to deliver in KP
* Challenges Imran to hold rally against inflation at Minar-e-Pakistan instead of confining it to a small place
LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz has asked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan to make improvements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where his party is in power.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid said on Sunday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan is playing in the hands of Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto, and is bent upon derailing democracy by indulging in the politics of street protests and sit-ins. Addressing a press conference, the minister said Imran Khan was indulging in a rivalry with the country and friends of its economy. He said the PTI chief will have to prove his patriotism again and wait until the next elections. Rashid asked Imran Khan to end drone attacks on the country’s economy and fight his case in the Supreme Court, parliament, or media. He said there is inflation in Peshawar, while Imran Khan is planning a protest in Lahore.
He asked the PTI chairman what change has the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government brought. The minister said elections will be held on time and claimed that there will be no gas load shedding in the country from the next year. Pervaiz Rashid claimed that Pakistan’s overall situation was improving. He said the government has taken several measures to overcome the challenges in the six months it has been in power. He said it retired the Rs 500 billion circular debt and decreased electricity outages, which were being carried out for 20 hours a day six months ago. Rashid said foreign investment was increasing in Pakistan and noted that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has expressed confidence in the economic policies of the country. “We have eliminated corruption, and the Transparency International has endorsed our viewpoint,” he said. Rashid said the PTI chairman had chosen a small place for his December 22 protest gathering as he could not amass workers at Minar-e-Pakistan after losing people’s confidence and support.
He said Imran Khan has confined the “tsunami” in a small place like The Mall in the city. He said Imran should hold a rally at the Minar-e-Pakistan to prove his popularity amongst the masses. Rashid said the PTI has chairman failed to fulfil his election commitments of revolutionising the police and patwari systems, saying that he could not implement these even in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where the PTI was in power. The minister said people of Peshawar faced the worst transport problems, as transport system was non-existent there, while Lahore did not have such problems. agencies
