JF-17 strengthened Pak defence: PM Nawaz
KAMRA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Wednesday that the JF-17 aircraft had strengthened Pakistan’s defence.
Addressing the rolling out ceremony of the 50th JF-17 Thunder aircraft at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Prime Minister Sharif said the defence of the country remained a top priority for the government.
Prime Minister Sharif added that the country’s defence strategy was being devised keeping in view the contemporary professional requirements as no battle could be won with outdated technology and discarded strategies.
“The new technology and modern expertise have transformed our defence into a great force ... We want that our defence forces should be ever ready for any contingency,”
The prime minister praised the role of the Pakistan Air Force and said the country's skies were secure because of them.
Prime Minister Sharif said Pakistan and China were effectively translating their friendly and brotherly relations into development projects for the mutual benefit of their people. He mentioned the Pakistan China Economic Corridor project which would link Gwadar to China through Khunjrab Pass and said that economic zones would be set up along the Corridor. The project would have far reaching impact on the future of both countries he added. Nawaz Sharif said cheap labour in Pakistan would also contribute to the smooth materialization of projects with China.
Prime Minister Sharif also expressed Pakistan’s desire for peaceful relations with neighbouring countries particularly India and Afghanistan. The prime minister welcomed the upcoming meeting of the Directors General Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India on December 24.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony PAF chief, Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt said the Air Force was in need of new aircrafts.
