Bangladeshi govt providing security to Pak High Commission: FO
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office spokesperson, Tasneem Aslam said Friday that the Bangladeshi government was providing security to the Pakistani High Commission in Dhaka. Aslam added that the government was in contact with the Bangladeshi Foreign Office.
Earlier during the weekly Foreign Office news briefing, Aslam had told reporters that events in Bangladesh were an internal matter. “Parliament’s purpose was not to intervene in the internal affairs of another country,” Aslam said in reference to the National Assembly resolution.
Meanwhile, anti-Pakistan protests in Bangladesh continued for the third consecutive day. Protests were held in Dhaka, Chittagong and other cities, as protesters burnt the Pakistani flag and effigies of Imran Khan. In Dhaka, police deterred protesters from marching towards the Pakistani High Commission.
On Thursday, protests had warned that they would storm the Pakistani High Commission if Bangladesh did not sever ties with Islamabad.
Pakistan’s National Assembly had passed a resolution on December 16 against the execution of Bangladeshi Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Abdul Quader Molla.
