Punjab LB polls: Process of filing nomination papers begins
LAHORE: The candidates in the Punjab local bodies elections have started submitting their nomination papers from today (Sunday), while an electioneering environment has taken over the different cities of Punjab including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranawal and Multan, Geo News reported.
Sources said that the Election Commission’s appointed returning officers’ offices have especially been kept open, as the candidates in LB elections making beeline for the submission of their nomination papers.
According to the election schedule, the candidates can submit their nomination papers until December 27 and, thereafter, the scrutiny of the papers and objections would be taken up.
Following completion of the different stages of LB elections, the final list of the candidates and election symbols would be issued on January 13, while polling would be held on January 30.
