ECP says it can’t investigate MPs’ tax anomalies on its own
ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Monday said that it could not investigate on its own the anomalies in the filing of tax returns by the members of parliament and added the complainant could approach the court, Geo News reported.
ECP spokesman said that the intention behind the publication of tax returns of the members of parliament was to obtain complaint/objections, if any. If any citizen has any objection, he could besides approaching court also file petition in the Election Commission.
If the tax return of any member of parliament proved wrong, he is liable to five-year imprisonment with fine beside disqualification., ECP spokesman said.
